Cervical aortic arch associated with ruptured aortic aneurysm

A 56-year-old male who was diagnosed as having a cervical aortic arch was referred to our department for a ruptured aneurysm at the level of the abnormal arch. Emergent CT scanning and aortogram by DSA revealed a left cervical aortic arch with the normal sequence of the main aortic branches and a right descending aorta, associated with a saccular aneurysm immediately distal to the origin of the left common carotid artery. Successful surgical treatment was accomplished with the use of extraanatomic bypass grafting between the ascending aorta and the abdominal aorta proximal to the origin of the celiac artery.
