Knowledge, attitude and job practices of auxiliary staff in context of HIV/AIDS in a large hospital in Delhi

The present study attempts to assess the knowledge, attitude and job practices of auxiliary staff in the hospitals in the context of AIDS. This study includes a sample of 289 respondents, representing 28 OT attendants, 19 laboratory attendants, 17 dressers and 225 nursing attendants. The study revealed that majority of these categories of functionaries were observed to have negative attitude and performing high risk job practices in their job settings due to their ignorance of the hazardous practices in relation to HIV infection.
