The experience of 103 cases of reconstruction of the tympano-ossicular chain using allografts taken from cortical long bone is presented. The method of preparation of the allografts from cadavers dead at least 12 h is described. Good anatomical tolerance was observed in 97% of the cases. Functional results were better than those obtained with other materials. Nonetheless, they were better with partial than total prostheses. The utilization of these allografts is recommended in the reconstruction of large bony defects of the temporal bone.
