Based on data from a survey by The Society for Health Education and Learning Packages (India) on the health implications of involuntary resettlement and rehabilitation in developmental projects in India. The study viewed health and nutritional status as a development indicator in conjunction with the economic and environmental status of the affected population. The paper provides information about the processes that directly or indirectly influence the developmental indicators of the project affected population. Data were gathered from randomly chosen villages . Issues discussed are: levels of living; economic status; environmental status; nutritional status; health status; health impact due to changes in dietary intake; and health impact due to changes in lifestyle.
