The cause of death of this falcon was related to the heavy S amaculata infection and possibly to bronchial obstruction with edema, fluid, and blood after administration of anesthetic. Based on these findings, at least the possibility of postanesthesia complications in raptors infected with S amaculata should be considered until definitive studies are available on the total pathologic potential of this parasite.
