When administered as aqueous suspension to rats with normal blood glucose levels, both species showed marked hypoglycaemic activity, whereas only L. dentata was effective in aqueous infusion form, being less effective, however, than the suspension. It is suggested that in these species the active principles may be partially insoluble in water.
