75 patients with removable partial dentures participated in an investigation. 3 groups were formed according to different recall-intervals. In cases with sulcus-depth > 4 mm periodontal surgery was performed. After one year the abutment teeth of these patients showed sig. improvements compared with the control group regarding the variables: sulcus-depth, sulcus fluid flow rate, plaque index and sulcus-bleeding index.
