Seven horses with typical lesions of lichen tropicus, a chronic skin disease thought to be a microfilarial infection (possibly Onchocerca species), were injected s.c. with a 1% ivermectin solution at 200 micro g/kg body weight. The itching stopped within two days and the papules became progressively flatter and disappeared within a week. The skin apppeared normal after 10-12 days.
