Evaluation of two immunization strategies for rural areas

Two out-reach immunization strategies for covering the children in the rural areas within the restraints at block level were evaluated. One consisted of the Multipurpose Health Workers, doing the vaccination during his routine beats; and the other twice a month out-reach strategy with social mobilisation. The latter strategy was found to give better coverage of the target population, fewer drop-out rates, and earlier mean age for vaccination within the resources available at the Primary Health Centre and is suggested for the vaccination campaigns in the rural areas.
