Fixation of antibodies from patients with pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus on snake epidermis

An attempt was made to detect pemphigus antibodies in snake epidermis. Indirect immunofluorescence with the use of luminescent antibodies against human Igb was used. Sera of untreated patients with pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus were used as a source of antibodies. Skin samples of Natrix natrix were used in the experiment. The expression of the same antigen by human and snake epidermocytes served as a physiological phenomenon necessary for skin regeneration. In other cases it led to the development of severe and potentially lethal autoimmune dermatosis bullosa, pemphigus vulgaris.
