Steroid hormone concentrations in the follicular fluid of the bovine ovary during follicular development

27 heifers in spontaneous oestrus and 17 superovulated heifers, aged 15 months, were hysterectomised on day 10 of the cycle, the day before the onset of oestrus, the day of oestrus, or 1 or 2 days after the onset of oestrus. Data are tabulated for the number of follicles with a diameter of <5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16-20 mm on the 5 days. The concentrations of follicular fluid progesterone, oestradiol, oestrone and testosterone were tabulated and were significantly affected by size of follicle, day of cycle and superovulation.
