Gliomata of optic chiasm in children

The paper demonstrates a series of 31 cases of the tumour of optic chiasm operated upon in 1980-1984. Clinical course of disease in children below the 3rd year of age (general pediatric symptoms) called particular attention. The tumours confined to optic nerves and chiasm seem to be prognostically more favourable than those which infiltrate the hypothalamus and adjacent structures. The latter group may be considered malignant and requires radiotherapy.
