Tumors of undomesticated beasts of prey (Fissipedia)

PM examination of 1011 zoo animals and circus animals revealed 116 tumours (11.5%). Eleven animals each had two different tumours. Canidae had the most at 20.4% (37 of 181), followed by Procyonidae at 17.2% (16 of 93), Ursidae 5% (9 of 60) and Felidae 7.9% (50 of 636). Numbers of Mustelidae and Viverridae (30 and 11 with 1 and 3 tumours, respectively) were too low to evaluate. The organ most commonly affected was the thyroid gland with 64 tumours (55.2%), followed by the liver and mesenchymal tissues, each with 9 (7%). There was a wide range of tumours, with almost all organs being affected.
