Catheters were inserted through the perineal route into the mid urethra and thence to the bladder of 6 pig-tail macaques (Macaca nemestrina) which were in restraint suits similar to those used in Biosatellite space experiments and were placed on hammocks. They were given 20 food pellets 3 times daily and 600 ml water was available daily. For 7 days they had a stock diet of plant protein and cereal carbohydrate and thereafter had a diet of casein.
