In the 1970s Nairobi experienced a significant problem with homeless children, the so-called 'parking boys', as a result of Kenya's population explosion and the phenomenal rural-urban migration accompanying modern development. This paper describes the Undugu Basic Education Programme, set up to provide basic education to homeless children, and arising out of the innovative initiative of Father Grol.
