The study presented demonstrates the informative contents of the panorama sectional roentgenography and of other roentgenological processes in comparison with the common photos of teeth. A phantom skull and bone preparations are used as experimental material. The clinical part interprets patients' photo. Contrary to numerous authors' opinions, it can be demonstrated that diseases of the periodontium can frequently and in sufficient manner be recognized by a good quality of the panorama sectional roentgenogram. In some instances this procedure even proves to be superior to intraoral photos.
