Electropulse therapy (EPT) of cardiac rhythm disorders may be complicated by vagotonic shock. An inflammatory process predisposes to "normal" embolism. The incidence of this complication can be decreased with the help of anticoagulants and acetyl salicylic acid. The risk of development of ventricular fibrillation (VF) as a complication of EPT depends on the initial form of cardiac rhythm disorders. Cardiosynchronization does not reduce the risk of VF development. A preliminary administration of anti-arrhythmic agents can prevent VF during EPT in patients who were kept on digitalis medication.
