A report is given about the suitability of the excretion of unspecific thioether for the biological monitoring of people, exposed to vinyl chloride. On account of the great variability of the excretion of exposed people and in the comparing collective the average values only show a significant difference. This method seems to be unsuitable for the individual control of exposed people. It can be recommended for screening tests in the comparison of groups.
