This document is the annual report of the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) in Bombay, India. The first part of the report details the teaching program of the Institute, including a list of courses offered and descriptions of the diploma and degree programs as well as a training program for government officials. The report on the research program cites 13 projects completed during the year, 20 ongoing projects, and five new research initiatives. The titles of eight new faculty reports published during the year are supplied. The report also details work undertaken in support of the National Family Health Survey and the efforts of the Institute's Population Data Center, the Department of Extra Mural Studies and Distance Education, and the library. The quarterly IIPS Newsletter was produced during the year, and four seminars/conferences/workshops were organized including a symposium held in conjunction with World Population Day. A list is provided of visitors to the Institute, of guest lectures, of foreign visitors, and of faculty nominations and consultancies for other organizations. Changes which occurred in the faculty during the year are noted, and a list of students who received diplomas and degrees is given.
