Gonococci are studied for their biological properties: ability to form capsule, .beta.-lactamase activity, the presence of related group-specific substances of the ABO system. The data of profound study in the biological properties of gonococci may serve as a basis for development of more effective methods for diagnosis and rational therapy of the gonococcal infection.
