Purulent epididymitis in a sucking lamb caused by Pasteurella haemolytica

P. haemolytica serotype A6 with typical biochemical behavior (Table I) was isolated from unilateral epididymitis of a 10-12 days old suckling Merino ram lamb. At necropsy considerable enlargement of the left epididymis and dilatation of the tubules were seen. Histopathological examination revealed necrosis of the epididymal tubular epithelium and inflammatory cellular infiltration of the affected areas (Figs 1-4). Purulent epididymitis might be a consequence of bacteriaemia or an ascending local infection.
