In a large fattening unit, a number of different protocols for controlling pneumonia in calves with IBR IPV and PI-3 vaccines were tested. The unvaccinated control calves did rather better at first than vaccinated animals, which showed one or more peaks of pneumonia. However, vaccinated animals required less treatments for pneumonia than the controls during the subsequent fattening period. The importance of developing a farm-specific prophylaxis is emphasized.
