Non-hematological side effects of cytostatic drugs used in children

The purpose of the work was an analysis of the non-haematological side effects developing during administration of cytostatics to children with leukaemia and neoplastic diseases. The study included 69 cases of proliferative haemopoietic system diseases and neoplasms treated in the years 1981 to 1985 in the II Paediatric Department, Medical Academy in Bialystok. It was found that cytostatic drugs caused in children most frequently gastrointestinal, neurological and cutaneous complications, and caused a considerable depression of the immune system in children.
