N. medusiformis was found in the erythrocytes and liver parenchyma cells of a new host, T. perforatus, trapped in Egypt. Young and mature gametocytes were found in the erythrocytes; the microgametocytes differed from the macrogametocytes in having filaments or flagella protruding on the surface of the host cell. The immature hepatic schizonts were spherical or oval with granular cytoplasm and several large nuclei. Developing schizonts were irregular in outline and mature schizonts were lobed, with surface indentations.
