Primary hypothyroidism with enlargement of the sella tursica in a Sudanese patient: case report

We are reporting a patient with primary hypothyroidism due to congenital dyshormonogenesis who developed pituitary enlargement secondary to his long standing hypothyroidism. His basal pituitary functions were normal apart from a high serum thyrotrophin (TSH). The pituitary enlargement regressed remarkably on adequate levothyroxine therapy. This was clearly shown by the regression of the sella tursica on the skull X-ray done two years after the start of treatment.
