Characteristics of the stock of intermediates of carbohydrate-lipid metabolism in the blood in alcoholic intoxication

The levels of lactate, pyruvate, .alpha.-glycerophosphate, dihydroxyacetonephosphate, NAD+, NADP+, .beta.-lipoproteins, .alpha.-cholesterol, total cholesterol, acylglycerols were studied in the blood of 150 alcoholics and in 80 clinically normal subjects. Brain autopsy material was also investigated. Correlation has been established between the changes in the metabolic stock parameters and the impairment of the cardiac function.
