In this discussion, brief mention is made of the role of the MHC in conferring general resistance to infection before considering the inheritance of genetically controlled disease resistance in various species; (1) poultry: resistance to Marek's disease and pseudo-fowl pest; (2) pigs: pneumonia, pleurisy and atrophic rhinitis; (3) cattle: mastitis.
