Hepatic hydrothorax is a possible complication of liver cirrhosis with ascites. The Authors describe a case of hepatic hydrothorax poorly controlled by diuretic therapy and intrapleural administration of tetracycline and successfully treated by talc-induced pleurodesis. The diagnostic procedures and the possible therapeutic approaches to hepatic hydrothorax are briefly discussed.
