The Authors present a case of intestinal bleeding originating from an ileal leiomyoma, preceded by scarce and nonspecific symptoms. The results of arteriography and small bowel enema, the surgical finding of a voluminous ileal leiomyoma, the different natural history of vascular and benign tumoral lesions on the one hand, and of malignancies on the other, all agree in stating that: bleeding is more frequent with vascular lesions and benign neoplasms; alternations in bowel function are not specific with benign lesions, even if of great size, as in this case; arteriography yields better diagnostic accuracy in the case of isolated intestinal bleeding.
