Experience with the routine determination of testosterone without the use of a kit

In the submitted paper the authors evaluated a method for the assessment of the testosterone serum level without the use of a set and compared it with estimations by means of the set of Sorin Co. The two methods give comparable results. In the area of low concentrations the method without a set gave higher testosterone levels, as compared with result obtained by the use of a commercial set, type Sorin Diria Testok 125. Every year some 300 estimations of the testosterone level were made in patient with carcinoma of the prostate. The testosterone level helps to assess the therapeutic dose of oestrogens. The results correspond to different types of therapy and are valuable as they help to determine the further therapeutic procedure.
