Twenty-six Wistar rats were studied in order to develop a method for the fluorimetric evaluation of the biogenic amine content in tissue basophils. Gamma quantum-induced radiation sickness was studied with a scanning microscope-photometer. A comparative analysis of the suggested method and the Aleksandrov method showed that the fluorimetric determination of serotonin and histamine in tissue basophils was not informative enough and an additional, morphometric study was needed in order to obtain reliable results.
