Effect of levamisole on the clinical status of patients with chronic spastic bronchitis during long-term treatment with corticosteroids

Two groups (94 patients) with chronic bronchitis associated with bronchospasm were treated with corticosteroids and observed during 5 years. One group of 49 patients aged 36-68 years (mean 58 years) received only corticosteroids, the other group of 45 patients aged 38-70 years (mean 54 years) received besides corticosteroids also levamisole (Decaris, Richer). In the group treated with levamisole a statistically significant reduction was observed in the frequency of infections and intensity of symptoms as compared with the other group.
