Coronary artery spasm: an analysis of 4 cases

Four cases of coronary spasm which occurred during selective coronary angiography are reported. Two cases showed ST segment elevation, while the other two showed ST segment depression. One case had an abnormal Q wave during the attack which soon disappeared after amelioration of substernal pain. The authors discuss the mechanisms of the ST changes and transient appearance of abnormal Q wave with emphasis on the use of calcium channel blocker agent as the choice of treatment for variant angina.
