Albendazole in nematode, cestode, trematode and protozoan (Giardia) infections

This paper records the efficacy of albendazole in the treatment of nematode, cestode, trematode and protozoan (Giardia) infections. Clinical observations were made during a period of 18 months starting from December 1981 to July 1983. Altogether 150 cases suffering from the above mentioned parasitic infections were studied. 88 were adults, of whom 58 were males and 30 females (age range 13-46 years old), 62 were children, of whom 29 were boys and 33 girls (age range 3-12 years old). Albendazole is a highly efficacious and safe broad spectrum drug for treating various parasitic diseases. Its side reactions are mild and transient.
