The effects of oxamyl (soil and foliar applications), aldicarb, 1,3-dichloropropene and solarization (soil only) were assessed in field and microplot experiments for control of G. rostochiensis on susceptible potatoes. Population density changes in clay loam and silty clay soils indicated that suppression of G. rostochiensis populations by aldicarb or oxamyl was positively correlated with initial nematode density (Pi). Treatment with 1,3-dichloropropene or solarization, singly or in combination, reduced G. rostochiensis soil population densities regardless of soil type or Pi. Temperatures lethal to G. rostochiensis were achieved at 5 cm deep under clear plastic but not at 10 or 15 cm deep.
