Relevance of transferrin receptors to gynaecological malignancy

Thirty two specimens.sbd.17 from malignant and 15 from non-malignant tissues were studied to find out the association of transferrin receptors with gynaecological malignant and non-malignant states. Positive immunostaining for transferrin receptors was observed in 82.3 per cent tissues from gynaecological malignancies as compared to 6.6 per cent in non-malignant tissues (P < 0.001). It was further observed that transferrin receptors were present in the three specimens from metastatic lesions.
