The approximately 450 annotated entries are divided into two major sections. The first is a listing by topic of resources on women that have a general emphasis. Topics include: agriculture and food production; education; employment and work; family, nutrition and health. The second section organizes those references which have a specific geographical focus. Much of the information is in the form of project reports, case studies, and specialized resource guides. The regions covered include: Africa and the Middle East; Asia and the Pacific; and Latin America and the Caribbean. Additional chapters list journals and periodicals concerned primarily with women, bibliographies focused on specialized topical or geographical areas, and a listing of organizations that deal with issues related to women and development. An attempt has been made to emphasize the literature available since 1976.
