In 1966 and 1968, 250 pools of Argas reflexus reflexus (F.) comprising 10, 031 nymphs and adults were collected from areas in the Camargue region of southern France. A virus, named Grand Arbaud, was recovered for the first time from seven groups collected in 1966 and from two groups collected in January 1968. Another newly discovered virus, named Ponteves, was recovered for the first time from one group collected in 1966 and another group collected in January 1968.
