Lifting the dorsalis major flap in the dorsal decubitus position

For the past two years, the authors have lifted all their dorsalis major flaps with the patient in the dorsal decubital position (except for cases of esthetic mammaplasties). This position greatly facilitates the operation, which is carried out far more rapidly, safely and comfortably for both the patient and the operating team. No change in position is required, for example, during the operation. The method also allows the lifting of very wide skin extensions, because of the natural exposure of all the dissection planes. Only the extremely posterior locations of some sites obliges them to modify this installation, which they now use systematically.
