A direct stepwise regression technique was used to relate tree volume (V) as dependent variable to diameter at breast height (D) as independent variable. Some 14 equations were developed by computer analysis and up to 4 independent variables (transformations of D) were tested to choose the best fit for volume table construction. The equation chosen was log V = -3.81901 + 2.46768 log D. The rsuperscript 2 value for this equation was 0.9526 and the relative s.e. of the estimate 15.02%.
