Reaction times (RTs) to lateralized visual stimuli were measured in 24 patients with probable or definite multiple sclerosis (MS). RTs relating to the left and right hemispheres are longer in all patients with MS compared to those of the control group, and there is a greater slackening in patients with definite MS. Interhemispheric transmission of information, however, does not differ from that of the control group. RT measurements and the results of other neurophysiological examinations used for MS diagnosis were also compared.
