Nuclear DNA content of cells in salivary gland tumours

The nuclear DNA absorption profiles in salivary gland tumours (8 pleomorphic adenomas, 4 adenolymphomas, 3 low-grade mucoepidermoid tumors, 2 high-grade mucoepidermoid tumors, 4 adenoid cystic carcinomas, 1 low-grade papillary adenocarcinoma of the palate and 3 malignant mixed tumors) were examined. A correlation between the aspect of histograms and the degree of malignancy as revealed by the histological picture has been noted. The value of the microspectrophotometric method as an objective criterion for the assessment of malignancy is discussed.
