Presence in Cuba of Eutrombicula alfreddugesi and its relation to a type of dermatitis characteristic of mountain regions in the eastern provinces of Cuba, is proved. Its agent is known by the natives as abuje or abujo. Damages to man and young chickens are described. Data compiled from literature about hosts, distribution and biomedical and veterinary importance of this acarus is offered. Morphometric data of Cuban materials are compared with those from the Continent, and it was found that the Cuban ones are consistently greater than the others.
