Study on the impact of rural households factors towards the new technology adoption on rice production - based on rural households surveys in Jiangsu Province

A total of 290 rural households from Diaoyu Town of Xinhua City, Zhouxiang Town of Gaoyou City and Pingming Town of Donghai City in Jiangsu, China, were investigated to study the influence of the socioeconomic characteristics of rural households on their adoption of new technology on rice production. Results showed that the age of rural households is negatively correlated with technology adoption, while their education level is positively correlated with technology adoption. The larger the households' rice planting area, the higher their technology adoption rate. The family size has no significant relation to technology adoption rate. The adoption rate has an inverse "u" shape linear correlation with household income.
