Numerous larvae of the oestrid Dermatobia hominis were found in an abscess on a sailor who had returned to Poland from a voyage to the Caribbean. An account is given of human myiasis in Poland, the life cycle of D. hominis, the symptoms of an infestation of the larvae of D. hominis, and the impact of modern travel on the spread of reported cases of human myiasis.
