The bibliography is divided into four sections. The first contains materials dealing with famine from a general perspective, i.e., cause, effects, policies, actions, etc. The second contains materials examining the causes of famine. The third part examines the different policies for famine prevention, adopted or proposed in the literature. The last part lists materials related to food aid and relief efforts by the international community for famine-affected African countries. Materials listed include journal articles and monographs, as well as some newspaper articles.
