Diabnostic data were analyzed and the effect of antigenemia on the course of chronic hepatitis was considered. Medical history data, biochemical parameters of liver function and immunological tests were compared with data from histological study of liver biopsies. Specialized hospital examination was necessary to establish the nature of the pathological process, since clinical manifestations vary. Diagnosis of chronic liver disease should be based on a complex evaluation of the clinical manifestations of the disease, results of immunological and morphological studies. For differential diagnosis of chronic active hepatitis with a latent course and chronic persistent hepatitis, the reaction of T-lymphocytes with theophylline and histamine may be used. Antigen-positive forms of chronic active hepatitis have more marked and stable manifestations of the pathological process.
