The authors provide experimental data which stipulate a strict dependence of optimal ionic relations in the development of the prescriptions of cardioplegic solutions (CS) which form basis for making nomograms. Show the advisability of supplementing the cardioplegic solutions with substrates and phosphorylated metabolites as well as of preliminary anti-ischemic protection of animals with membranotropic agents, of the necessity of performing repeated infusions with oxygenated solutions and adherence to the optimal temperature regime. Review the mechanisms of action of CS.
