Concurrent ABO blood type change and erythrophagocytosis by leukemic cells in a case of acute myeloblastic leukemia

We report a patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia, in whom a change in ABO blood type and erythrophagocytosis by leukemic myeloblasts were simultaneously noted. Both phenomena were transient, disappearing after hematological remission. We speculate that these events occurred incidentally, without a causal relationship between them.
