T- and B lymphocyte number in patients with thermal burns

Severe burn trauma is attended with marked changes in blood content of T and B lymphocytes. These changes reflect activity of the T and B immunity systems. Suppression is the most pronounced in the cellular immunity system. The blood content of total lymphocyte population, "active" T lymphocytes, T nad B lymphocytes (their relative and absolute content) is a reliable criterion by which the body reactivity is severe burns can be assessed. A sharply decreased blood content of various lymphocyte populations is an unfavourable diagnostic and prognostic sign. The blood content to total lymphocyte population and T lymphocytes are the most important parameters for determining the immune state of patients with burns. A decrease in the blood content of lymphocyte population and T lymphocyte necessitates intensification of antibacterial therapy and use of corrective therapy to stimulate the T system of immunity.
